FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How do you charge for consultation visits?
Answer: The charge varies depending upon the scope of a
project. Smaller projects such as an individual piece of
furniture or artwork, require an hourly rate of $75/hour
which is due at the end of the consultation. This serves
as a “retainer”. Should you decide to go ahead with
commissioning me to do the piece, the amount of the retainer
will be applied to the final invoice.
On a larger project, such as built-ins or a full service
project, a minimum of $500 retainer would be due at the
initial consultation. Should you decide to render my
services the amount of the retainer will be applied to the
final invoice as a credit.
Question: Once I have decided to hire you, how do you
charge for the project?
Answer: Again, this varies depending upon the scope of
the project. Smaller projects such as individual pieces will
be charged a fixed price, given to you at the time of the
proposal. On a fixed price, I typically require 60% up
front, with one of two options:
1.) The first is two final payments at 30/10 (30% upon
delivery, 10% upon completion) which is usually reserved for
custom built-ins requiring more than a couple of days for
installation
2.) The second is one final payment of 40% which is due
upon delivery.
On a larger full service project, I charge a minimum
retainer fee of $500 upfront, and then bill you at a rate of
$75/hour with an invoice due each week. At the end of the
project, the retainer fee will be applied to the final
invoice.
Question: How long does a project usually take?
Answer: This too varies on the scope of a project, and is
based on availability of materials, and whether or not any
other contractors are involved.
